Vermicompost, or worm castings, are the end result in the process of worm composting. This is where food and garden waste is composted by the Eisenia Hortensis worm, and forms Vermicompost, or 'black gold' as some like to call it. It is rich in microbial activity and nutrients, and is great for drainage in your soil. Ongoing studies show that 10-15% Vermicompost in your soil mix can improve growth rates, drainage, water retention, and even pest control. I have been worm composting for quite some time now, and highly recommend it as an addition to any pot, planter or garden. It is a great way of keeping things natural. Less reliance on chemicals is always a good thing.
"Without the work of this humble creature, who knows nothing of the benefits he confers upon mankind, agriculture as we know it, would be very difficult, if not wholly impossible."
