Started many years ago, Handmade Herb Boxes began as a way of creating something special for friends and family. It was a way of making gifts rather than buying, and of creating something unique, personal and beautiful rather than something off the shelf. It was also a way of combining creativity with my passion for plants, and a way of utilising my interest in sustainability and ultimately trying to make our spaces a bit greener.
I make everything myself, from building, sanding, painting and oiling the boxes, to the plaques which I engrave, sand and paint, and the vermicompost that makes up about 10% of the soil in the planters. I am in the process of growing the herbs myself, and making the rest of the compost to go in them. It is a labour of love, and a lot of time, care and attention go into each and every box, so that my customers can enjoy them.
